Trust is a very important thing, and trust only exist when there are two or more persons involve in some sort of relationship, and relationship is basically a collaboration to build a ‘project’. Without trust, a project will never begin, or at least no one will enjoy the journey in the collaboration. In Portrait Photography there’s no exception. Working with Christophe Bourrie is a very good example of how this intangibility should be carried out, exactly how? As I’m writing this I realized that trust is closely related to respect, you could say they go hand in hand. You can only trust someone if you respect one’s expertise, with that you simply open up because you know you are in good hands and then you will enjoy the ride.
Christophe is one of my favorite subjects to photograph, the trust he has for another person is as clear as the respect he has for another professional. To begin with, you must be a professional yourself to understand how to treat another professional. When you put someone like him and a Professional Photographer like myself in a studio, and with some sharp looking suits which he brought to the studio, shooting him was simply a pleasure.
This was the second time we collaborated, the first time was in 2012 when I photographed Christophe in the Marina Bay Sands. Christophe Bourrie is the Regional Director of LOUIS XIII, Remy Cointreau.
